Today the Association of Writers and Writing Programs started their Seattle conference and I'm excited at the prospect of meeting other writers. It’s wonderful to see so many writers of color and hear their stories.

I also wanted to share the completion of my narration of "Tei, a memoir of the end of war and beginning of peace". This book is a true woman’s survival story written in 1946. A grueling story of a female refugee and her three young children as they flee from the Soviets, into North Korea, across the 38th Parallel, and through South Korea and Japan. This book has been close to my heart and my mother for years. Together with my mother's help, I translated this Japanese memoir and published it.

Although I don’t have a degree in English, working on this memoir has been my MFA. I learned so much about storytelling as I rewrote Tei’s story in English word by word. Rereading Tei Fujiwara’s words out loud for the audiobook reminds me how emotions are at the core of any great story.
After finishing the Tei memoir, and attending the AWP conference, I’ll go back to my writing projects with renewed energy.
If you do read/listen to Tei’s memoir, I would greatly appreciate your review of the book on Goodreads or Audible.
Thanks and Good Writing!
